Which mattress firmness is right for you?
Look it up by height and weight.
Soft, medium, firm or extra firm? It depends on more than what the scales say. Your height and weight together decide how much resistance your mattress should give. At 80 kg and 1.50 m, you already need a Firm mattress. At the same weight and 1.90 m, Soft suits you just fine.
Your comfort layer matters too: visco, latex and Waterfreshfoam feel softer than Hybrid or HD-Foam. Find your firmness in seconds in the tables below. Or let the Revor mattress test do the maths for you.
Why the right mattress firmness matters
A mattress that is too soft feels lovely for the first minute. But you sink in too deep, so your back spends the whole night out of its natural line. A mattress that is too firm gives too little: your body has to adapt to the mattress, instead of the other way around.
So the right firmness isn't "as firm as possible" or "as soft as possible". It's the balance that suits your body. Your height and weight together decide how much pressure you put on the mattress, and so how much support you need to keep your spine nicely aligned.

Revor's 4 firmness levels
Revor works with four firmness levels. Each one describes how much your mattress gives under your body weight.
Soft
The gentlest give. For lighter bodies that would otherwise not sink in deep enough to be properly supported.
Medium
The happy medium and the most popular choice. Suits most combinations of height and weight.
Firm
Firmer support for a higher weight or taller build, so you don't sink in too deep.
Extra Firm
The firmest support, for the highest combinations of height and weight.
Good to know: the same firmness doesn't feel identical in every material. Visco, latex and Waterfreshfoam are naturally softer than Hybrid or HD-Foam. With a softer comfort layer, you'll often go one level up. That's why there are two tables below: one per material group.
Firmness chart: your mattress firmness by height and weight
Find your height in the left column and your weight in the top row. Where they meet, you'll see the firmness that matches your comfort layer.

Example: you weigh 85 kg and you're 1.82 m tall? With a visco, latex or Waterfreshfoam comfort layer, you land on Medium. Weigh 130 kg at 1.90 m and choosing Hybrid or HD-Foam? Then Extra Firm is your match.
Taller than 2 metres, or outside the chart? Take the Revor mattress test or ask a Revor retailer for advice.
Does only my weight count, or my sleeping position too?
Height and weight together determine your firmness. That's what the charts show. Your sleeping position plays a different role: it doesn't decide how firm your mattress should be, but where your body needs extra support. That's why Revor pocket spring mattresses have 7 comfort zones, including a softer shoulder zone and an adapted hip zone.
Side sleeper: firm or soft mattress?
As a side sleeper, most of your weight rests on your shoulder and hip. A comfort layer that gives nicely at shoulder height, like visco or latex, often feels best.
Stomach sleeper: firm or soft mattress?
Sleep on your stomach? Then a flatter, slightly firmer surface works best, so you don't sag at the hips.
Back sleeper
As a back sleeper, the firmness from the chart is your starting point. The comfort layer is mostly a matter of feel.
In short: height and weight decide the firmness, your sleeping position decides the zones and the comfort layer. The mattress test takes all three into account.
Two people, one bed: firm on the left, soft on the right
You're Soft, your partner is Firm? No problem, and no compromise either. If your ideal firmness doesn't line up, Revor lets you choose a mattress with dual comfort: firmer on the left, softer on the right, or the other way around. So everyone sleeps on the firmness that suits them.
Both in the same firmness level? Then a shared mattress is the simplest choice. Curious which models offer dual comfort? A Revor retailer near you will be happy to tell you.
Still unsure? Let the mattress test do the maths
Not everyone loves maths. Luckily, our mattress test does.
The charts give you a solid first estimate. The Revor mattress test goes one step further: it combines your height, weight and sleeping position into one personal recommendation, including the type of core and comfort layer that suit you best.

Frequently asked questions about mattress firmness
The chart works in steps of 10 kg. If you fall in between, you'll usually pick the level of the next, higher weight column. Want an exact answer? The mattress test calculates with your precise height and weight.
Yes. Your ideal firmness depends directly on your height and weight, so it shifts with a lasting change in weight. Has your weight changed by 10 kg or more? Then it's worth checking the chart or the mattress test again.
No. A mattress that is too soft and one that is too firm both fail to support you properly: on a soft one you sink in too deep, a hard one gives too little. What matters is the firmness that suits your height and weight. Feeling discomfort while you sleep? A good mattress can offer support, but if complaints persist, please see a specialist.
If you're both in the same firmness level, a shared mattress is the simplest choice. If your levels are further apart, Revor lets you choose a mattress with dual comfort: a different firmness on each side. A Revor retailer will gladly tell you which models offer this.
A mattress's firmness is set by its core and comfort layer. Want to fine-tune your sleep comfort anyway? A topper can add extra softness. For online purchases on revor.be, the statutory right of withdrawal also applies. If you buy from a retailer, that store's terms apply.
