What is a Pocket Spring Mattress?
A pocket spring mattress consists of hundreds (sometimes thousands) of individually wrapped springs, the so-called pockets. Each spring is placed in its own fabric pouch and moves independently of the rest. This makes a pocket spring mattress unique in its support: it follows the contours of your body and distributes your weight evenly across different comfort zones.
This allows your shoulders to sink in more deeply while your lower back remains firmly supported.
Why Does a Pocket Spring Mattress Feel So Good?
Because every spring does its job.A pocket spring mattress feels thoughtful yet natural. The individually wrapped springs provide support exactly where you need it and yield where your body demands, in any sleeping position. The open structure ensures optimal ventilation, an advantage for those who tend to get hot at night. And thanks to high-quality materials, you’ll enjoy resilient sleep comfort for years.
✔ Adaptive support
✔ Less pressure, deeper sleep
✔ For side, back, and stomach sleepers
✔ Sleep peacefully, even with two
Thanks to the independent springs, your partner’s movements stay on their side. So if they toss and turn, you just keep dreaming.
✔ Fresh and dry, night after night
The open-cell foam structure and breathable layers keep your mattress airy and dry, every night. Ideal for those who overheat or sweat a lot.
Why That’s Good for Your Sleep
Because deep sleep only comes when your body truly relaxes. That’s only possible if you’re not woken every few minutes by pressure points, heat, or movement. Pocket springs create that ideal balance: support where it’s needed, softness where it’s welcome even when you share the bed.

Frequently asked questions about pocket spring mattresses
A pocket spring mattress has a core of barrel-shaped metal springs, each sewn into its own fabric pocket. Because every spring responds to pressure independently, the mattress adapts closely to your body contours and you don't feel movement on one side of the bed from the other. Our pocket spring cores come with seven ergonomic comfort zones as standard, including a softer shoulder zone and a firmer hip zone. All springs are electro-thermally hardened for a longer lifespan.
More springs mean finer pressure distribution, but not automatically a better mattress. Revor pocket spring cores range from 750 springs (Chill, Comfort 750) to 1,500 springs (Relax 1500, Aero Pocket 1500), and our Anatomic cores go up to 3,000. Just as decisive are the quality of the spring itself and the comfort layer above it: a well-matched comfort layer on 750 sturdy springs will outperform a thin layer on a core with an impressive spring count.
Rotate your mattress head-to-foot regularly during the first few months so that it settles evenly. After that, two to four times a year is enough. Several Revor models, including the Comfort 750 and the Aero Pocket, are fully reversible: they have the same comfort layer on both sides, which extends their lifespan. Models with a single comfort side should only be rotated head-to-foot, never flipped over.
Yes, and for side sleepers it is often the best choice. As a side sleeper, your weight rests on a small surface area: your shoulder and your hip. You need a mattress that lets you sink in at those points while your lumbar zone stays supported, and that is exactly what a pocket spring core with seven comfort zones does. The softer shoulder zone relieves the shoulder joint and keeps your spine straight. If you want even finer zoning, our Anatomic pocket springs combine four firmness levels in a single core.
Yes, provided you choose a firm enough option and the right comfort layer. Front sleepers need a flat, supportive surface; if the pelvis sinks in too far, it tilts and arches your lower back. A pocket spring core delivers that supportive feel, but go for firm or extra firm and combine it with Hybrid Foam or latex rather than memory foam. The Aero Pocket with a Hybrid Foam comfort layer is a good match.
Pocket springs are the best-ventilating type of core there is. The open space in and around the springs keeps air circulating through the mattress, so moisture is carried away quickly — the ideal answer to night sweats. Pay attention to your comfort layer as well: Hybrid Foam and latex ventilate noticeably better than memory foam, which traps body heat. If you sleep particularly warm, we also offer mattresses with PCM Cooling Technology in the cover.
A pocket spring mattress works on any flat base that offers enough support: a slatted base, a sprung base or the base of a box spring. Make sure the slats are not spaced too far apart, otherwise the core will sag in places and you will lose both comfort and lifespan. If you are replacing a mattress that has been on the same base for years, check that the base itself has not sagged.
In a Bonnell spring core, the springs are interconnected, so the mattress moves as a single unit. In a pocket spring core, each spring sits in its own pocket and responds individually to localised pressure. That gives you more precise pressure distribution, far less movement transfer to your partner and better shape retention over time. Bonnell springs are cheaper to produce, which is why they are found in many entry-level mattresses. Revor works exclusively with thermally hardened pocket springs.
